This week’s favourite website was created for Hennessey Lifestyle,
An out of town showroom, Hennessey Lifestyle offers customers a variety of homewares, furnishings, and lifestyle goods. It is also home to The Coffee Lounge; a café serving homemade food that can be hired out as a venue for events or meetings, and The Wine Cellar; a specialist wine shop where regular wine tastings are held.
With so much going on, it was imperative that the business had an effective online presence, and the venue’s existing website simply wasn’t pulling its weight.
As the business has so many facets, it was important to choose an overall focus for the website to avoid the design becoming too cluttered and confusing. The Coffee Lounge is very much the hub of the business, with the café offering breakfast and lunch to showroom visitors, as well as hosting regular themed events, live music, and celebrations. With this is mind, the design team have styled the new site around the themes of dining and social gatherings, helping to posit the showroom as a destination venue for food, drink, and event hire.
These themes are carried through the website through a mixture of images, alternating between full-width stock photography and high-quality images of the venue as supplied by the client. These large photos create a real impact, and give the site its thoroughly modern and engaging appearance. The contemporary feel is enhanced by the site’s stylish monochrome colour scheme, with the exclusively black, white, and grey details creating a chic aesthetic throughout.
Layout is another important aspect of the website, with different assortments of colour blocks and content sections creating a smooth user journey and interesting experience on every page. The navigation menu is also positioned below the banner image on each page, and repeated just above the footer. This adds to the site’s largely visual focus by putting the main image front and centre for extra impact, and also aids visitor navigation around the site.
A simple website on the surface, Hennessey Lifestyle’s new site pulls together multiple design elements to create an online presence that is slick, well-balanced, and highly effective.
